Submission Guidelines
CACTUS – Journal of Tourism for Research, Education, Culture, and Soul is an open-access, biannual publication dedicated to publishing significant, peer-reviewed research across tourism and economic disciplines.
The CACTUS – Journal of Tourism for Research, Education, Culture, and Soul (CACTUS-RECS Journal) is an open access journal that provides biannual publication of articles on various economic topics.
We welcome manuscripts that meet criteria of significance and scientific excellence. All articles are peer reviewed, and submissions must align with our mission of advancing tourism and economic research.
The online CACTUS is a publication of the research center with the same name, focused on identifying and analyzing current tourism issues in Romania and abroad.
Types of Papers
CACTUS Journal considers a diverse range of manuscripts that contribute to the field.
Describe new, carefully confirmed findings with sufficient methodological detail so that results can be verified. Length should be the minimum required to clearly present and interpret the work.
Subject to double-blind peer review.
Perspectives and syntheses on topics of current interest are encouraged. Reviews should critically evaluate literature and highlight future directions.

500–1,500-word articles offering annotations, ideas, or insights from practitioners (planners, policy makers, tourism stakeholders, etc.) on contemporary or relevant issues.
Final acceptance is decided by the Editorial Board; these articles are not double-blind peer reviewed and may be invited or voluntarily submitted.
Author Guidelines
Uphold the highest standards of originality, clarity, and methodological rigor.
Articles must report original research not published or under review elsewhere. Papers presented at conferences are welcome if they have not been published in full in the proceedings.
All manuscripts must be submitted in British or American English and follow the journal template.
The journal is issued twice a year (June & December). Submissions are accepted year-round and undergo eligibility checks based on the Author Guidelines.
Authors are notified via email about initial eligibility decisions. Eligible manuscripts proceed to double-blind peer review, typically completed within 4–6 weeks from reviewer invitation. Please follow the template provided below.
- Papers of 4,000–8,000 words are encouraged if concise and comprehensive.
- Articles not following the template are rejected without peer review.
- An author may sign no more than one article in two consecutive issues.
- Use the submission form provided on the journal website.
Manuscripts submitted after 1 October 2025 must use the CACTUS 2026 template.
Every manuscript must include the duly completed Declaration of Originality form.
Title
Clearly describe article content and include discoverable keywords.
Abstract
Summarize objectives, methodology, results, and conclusions. Reinforce relevant keywords without unnecessary repetition.
Keywords
List 3–5 keywords in decreasing order of importance.
JEL Classification
Provide at least two codes following the Journal of Economic Literature system.View the JEL classification.
Structure
Introduce context and literature, explain methodology, present results, and discuss implications. Ensure the conclusion synthesizes contributions and relevance.
Formatting rules
- Title: uppercase, centered, Times New Roman 14 pt bold.
- Authors: list under the title with title, affiliation, country, and email (single spaced).
- Abstract: 100–250 words, Times New Roman 10 pt italic, justified, no abbreviations.
- Body text: Times New Roman 11 pt, single spaced.
- Tables/figures: max one page each with source, referenced in-text as “(figure 1)” or “(table 1)”.
- Graphs should be clear, preferably black and white.
- Equations numbered right-aligned in parentheses.
- Define abbreviations/acronyms on first use.
Referencing style
Use APA referencing (Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association). Include DOIs when available.Access APA style guidance.
Note
Ensure alignment between title, abstract, keywords, core content, and conclusions. Articles not adhering to the Author Guidelines will not be accepted.
